Successful Managed Document Review Done in Groups

There are many things that happen when people file a lawsuit against a company. When a person has a legal complaint and has partnered with an attorney, their complaint is filed. After the defending party has given their response to the court, both have time to gather information. During this discovery phase, one of the most important phases begins, managed document review. This is the system that will help both parties gather, review and share information that is gathered for trial.
There are many things that have to be done when a company is being sued. There is a great deal of documents that have to be looked over and sorted through in order for the legal teams to get the information they need for their case. As legal teams begin the discovery process, they begin to put their managed document review teams together. They know their teams will go through all the documents with the exact precision they need and get all the relevant information available.
Before lawyers can gather a team, they have to decide what they are looking for. As they decide what needs to be found, they can find the best team members possible. These team members normally have experience in the legal field or review teams. Many of these members are law students, paralegals or even legal assistants. There is at least one lawyer on the team to check relevance of gathered information.
A team leader is critical for each managed document review team. A team leader is one that will assign a task to each team member. The amount of paperwork that has to be sorted, checked and reviewed is huge and the team leader will ensure it is all going according to plan. As tasks are being considered, experience and expertise is taken into consideration.
Once the team is assembled, there has to be a schedule of meetings held. These meetings have to be attended by everyone on the team. This is the hub of communications and where everyone will receive vital pieces of information. During these meetings, progress on the review is normally discussed, new assignments given as well as many other things. If for any reason there is a lapse in communication, there can be serious mistakes made in the case.
When information is found, it is given to the team leader. The team leader is responsible for gathering the reports, evidence and information and getting it to the attorneys handling the case. Because there is a level of accountability for the managed document review team, the reportings are consistent. As attorneys get these reports, they can accurately build their cases, defend their position on the case and accurately bill their client for services rendered.
With all the information given to the team leader, it has to be reviewed. The reviews are a necessary step in that managed document review. These reviews help the team stay on the path they need to be on. If the team leader sees there is irrelevant information being found, they are able to help that team member or guide the entire team back on track. As they find new leads and developments, this can be communicated as well.
As many offices will attest, managed document review teams are critical in any lawsuit. These teams are able to focus on a large amount of information and sort through it at a rapid pace. These teams are normally responsible for finding different critical pieces of information. Their search helps justice get served.
